Water into Light

come with me.
this simple formula is all you’ll need:

transpose light for water.

Now see it.

The drainpipe drips light
hours after the storm has passed
does it float upward
or spread on the ground –
brightening the earth in a radiant puddle?

An inland sea where
sand meets light
vast expanses of illumination wave in and out
to the pulse of the body of light
earth meets light
light meets sky

the complete cross section:
earth meets light, light meets sky

At night the light sea glows alive
like an infinity of fireflies.
The complex algorithm
the chaos of a fluid body
magnified and repeated
an infinity of brilliant pixels
flashing fifty frequencies of light.

Now elsewhere, onward/into/everyday:
You are thirsty.
Here, enjoy your glass of sunshine.
See the glass – translucent and cold –
maybe tinged a clinical blue
and inside sloshes the fractal reflected chaos of light
temporarily restrained, contained

And then consider bathing.
Light shooting down and covering you,
light rolling down your leg

light circling the drain.

Consider brushing your teeth, rinsing
light shining through teeth as you rinse,
an insane glowing smile in the mirror
and light dribbling out of your mouth,
(the mundane miracle of)
light dripping on the floor.

and then if you must,
as a natural progression
consider making water –
briefly consider the sun shining
where the sun don’t shine.

Now/Here :
A pond of light and you are in it
buoyant and supported by calming light
a kind of static charge,
playful pin pricks
sooth and warm the skin

and yes you are swimming in light.
see it.
the view from below,
you floating on light,
partially obscured by the winking luminescence.
You treading the roiling, waving, curlicue beams.

Oh, and what of the sound?

that we cannot hold in our mind. . .

And now for the sake of fairness,
I ask you to come with me elsewhere,
if just for a moment:
away from the sea of light
to the un-explored other-side of the equation.

Understanding this magic was a kind of exchange,
a swap, not a replacement
and that water into light
must also mean light into water

water into light, light into water
water into light light into water
water into light light into water

and things get darker.
