15WattLasVegas: Art and Artifacts @ the Hot Box Gallery post-show pics
The First Friday show at the Hot Box Gallery was crazily fun and, as expected, a bit frenzied. Not long after the mountainous desert sunset gave way to darkness, the thunderstorm began kicking down thick raindrops. Just then the power went out for the entire Downtown Arts Market. People crowded into the Hot Box to wait it out. At first there was amusing, slightly stilted conversing on par with being stuck in an elevator, but once we strangers recognized our unique and random circumstances, we grooved right along and enjoyed the night. I was almost sad when the lights came back on. This is perhaps the best thing I can say about the show and overall experience.
I can’t wait for MOCAD in Detroit and The People’s Biennial.
Gratitude to Steven Yazzie and Greg Esser, each posses a rare spirit of creative generosity. Props to the Roosevelt Row crew, and to friends.
For this post I’m gonna be rather blog-y and post a shit-ton of pics (a scientific term.) All pics by Steven Yazzie unless they’re blurry and low quality, then I shot them. Heh.
