15WattLasVegas: Art and Artifacts from Jonathan Bond, an art show

I’m having a small art show opening at Hot Box Gallery in Phoenix this Friday July 18th, also open for First Friday in August. Once it closes in Phoenix, it will be part of the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit’s show “The People’s Biennial” opening September 12th, which I almost can’t believe.

My show is comprised of objects created and collected, and concerns how they interact in my creative world. It includes original visual art in a variety of modes from text based pieces, small sculptures suspended in liquid, manipulated and assembled found photographs as well as strange and humorous objects I have collected. It’s a modest show, as I am not a visual artist, but I’m very honored to share my work and be part of MOCAD‘s “The People’s Biennial

For me it’s an honor and a lark, and most certainly the show would not have happened without the selfless time and energy of Steven Yazzie, who put my name forward for this show and is functioning as facilitator, collaborator and curator (say that three times fast.)  His art doesn’t even exist in my realm of cut and paste assemblage, and even the least elegant of his pieces would overwhelm my offerings, yet he took the time to make this right for my first and probably only art show. Still seems unreal.

  1. Well done, Jonathan!! It would be my pleasure to see your little treasures, but…it is a bit far away from me…so… I will be thinking about it, in my imagination… (…smiling and smiling…)

  2. Thank you so much Kari. You’ve seen versions of some of the pieces on the blog, so you don’t have to travel so far. Thank you for the support! (smiling)
